2026 Grant Program Application

The Mission of the Memorial Foundation for Children is to provide funds that support nonprofit organizations and their programs that focus on improving the lives of children from asset-limited households and under-resourced communities in the Richmond Metropolitan Area. Please carefully review all our grant guidelines, to determine your organization’s eligibility to apply.

To better partner with our community partners, the Memorial Foundation for Children has enhanced its grant program by offering:

 

Two types of grant funding for 2026. Letters of Intent will be due at noon on November 5, 2025.

General Grants

The Foundation continues to makes one-year grants for specific programs or projects which may include operating expenses. Funds should be spent within the period of 12 months following July 1. Organizations are eligible for General Grant funding every other year.

Multi-Year Grants

Multi-Year grants of $100,000 will be distributed over a two-year period and will be awarded to up to two organizations per year. These larger grants are designed to allow us to better partner with our grantees above and beyond our general grants for special strategic initiatives, new programs, and enhancements to existing programs. These grants are to be used to support programs that have been vetted with measurable objectives, ideally reflected in the organization’s strategic plan or initiatives.

Only organizations that have received at least two grants within the past six (6) years from the Memorial Foundation for Children are eligible to apply for a Multi-Year Grant. To view your funding history, please click here. Application may be made for General Grant funding at the same time. Funding priorities of Education and Health and Wellness are the same as General Grants.

Recipients of Multi-Year Grants are eligible to apply for multi-year grant funding two years following the last Multi-Year Grant payment.
